1. Who we are

IdeaDrop is a Chrome browser extension designed to help users capture ideas instantly without interrupting their browsing flow. It is developed and maintained as an independent project.

2. What data we collect

We collect absolutely no personal data.

IdeaDrop does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personally identifiable information. The extension operates entirely within your browser using Chrome's local storage API.

What IdeaDrop stores locally on your device:

• The text content of ideas you manually type
• The URL and domain name of the page you were visiting when you captured an idea
• The page title at the time of capture
• The date and time each idea was captured
• Any category tags you assign to ideas
• Your theme preference (light or dark mode)

All of this data lives exclusively on your device. It is never sent to any external server, cloud service, or third party — including us.

3. How we use your data

We don't. Because we never receive it.

The data stored locally by IdeaDrop is used solely to power the features you see: displaying your ideas in the popup, organizing them in the Kanban dashboard, and enabling search. This processing happens entirely in your browser.

4. Data sharing and third parties

IdeaDrop does not share any data with any third parties — because we have no data to share.

• No analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• No advertising networks
• No crash reporting services
• No cloud storage providers
• No external APIs of any kind

5. Permissions we request

IdeaDrop requests only the permissions necessary to function:

• storage — to save your ideas locally using Chrome's local storage API
• activeTab — to read the current page's URL and title when you trigger the capture overlay
• tabs — to open the dashboard in a new tab when you click the Dashboard button

We do not request access to your browsing history, cookies, passwords, or any other sensitive browser data.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your ideas are stored until you choose to delete them. You can:

• Delete individual ideas using the × button on each card
• Clear all ideas at once using the "Clear all" button in the popup
• Remove all data by uninstalling the extension — this automatically wipes Chrome's local storage for IdeaDrop

We have no ability to access or recover your data once deleted, as it never leaves your device.

7. Children's privacy

IdeaDrop does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since we collect no data at all, this extension is safe for users of all ages.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of IdeaDrop after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Your rights

Since we collect no personal data, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end. All your data is in your own hands — literally on your device — and you have full control over it at all times.
